My treat

On Me

Bill idhar.

A short story we wrote around On Me. Fiction, not a review.

One more round.
No announcement.
Just a hand reaching for the bill.

  1. Every good dinner has that moment at the end. The plates are empty, the stories aren’t, and suddenly everyone is very busy with their phones.

  2. Tonight it’s six of you, squeezed around a table meant for four. Someone orders one more round of fries nobody needs, because nobody’s ready to leave.

  3. Honestly, you’ve been thinking about it since the starters. It’s been a good month. They’ve had your back all year. This one, you want to do.

  4. So when the server looks over, you just lift a hand. Burgundy, tortoiseshell, a little gold. The bill folder slides your way before anyone else can reach.

  5. Someone starts, “Arre, let’s just split—” You’ve already handed over your card. Good company. One more round. Bill idhar.
